The Many Mustards of Mrs. McGarrigle’s
At Mrs. McGarrigle’s, we’ve been making award-winning mustards for over 27 years, and we’re pretty passionate about what we do. One of the reasons we love mustard so much is its versatility in the kitchen – we think of it not as only a condiment, but a cooking ingredient too. In most cases just a spoonful will add some bold flavour to your kitchen concoctions.
Since 1988, our lineup has grown to include fourteen unique varieties (most of which are both vegan and gluten free); all with a distinct, delicious flavour that you can’t find anywhere else. All-natural and with no added preservatives, you’ll want to check out Mrs. McGarrigle’s and experience for yourself some of Ontario’s best artisan mustards.
Balsamic Cracked Pepper Mustard
Choosing our favourite mustard is like having to choose a favourite child – we would openly state that we love them all equally, but would probably pull this one aside to constantly reiterate how proud they make us.
Our Balsamic & Cracked Pepper is delicious. It’s coarse-grained with that distinctive balsamic flavouring that we love. With great texture and a heat that lingers, this mustard enlivens salad dressings and is perfection to grill with.
British Beer Mustard
It was a great day when we were inspired to make a mustard that featured beer from across the pond, and ever since our customers can’t get enough of it.
Coarse grains give our British Beer mustard a distinctly sharp flavour and wonderfully thick consistency. Many consider this one the ultimate pretzel mustard and we’re inclined to agree – although we also think it’s the perfect companion for sausages and cheese.
Canadian Maple Mustard
Mrs. McGarrigle’s Canadian Maple mustard was an Award Winner in the Napa Valley Worldwide Mustard Competition in 2002 – it’s grainy with a distinctive maple finish and smooth heat that slowly builds, but doesn’t linger. This one is definitely popular with our customers!
Chipotle Lime Mustard
Our spicy Chipotle Lime mustard was also an Award Winner in the 2002 Napa Valley Worldwide Mustard Competition. Unabashedly bold, beautifully smoky and with a savoury heat that lingers – this mustard is definitely not for amateurs.
Classic Wholegrain Mustard
Our Classic Wholegrain was inspired by the fine mustards of France, with just a hint of sweetness.
This medium-grain mustard is relaxed, subtle, delicious and will quickly become your go-to mustard for just about everything. It’s perfect for pork tenderloins (it makes a delicious crust) or in a fresh artisan sandwich.
Cranberry Port Mustard
Serious mustard lovers will love our Award-Winning Cranberry Port’s sweet start and intensifying smoky heat!
Robust and layered, this mustard is enhanced by the sweet tartness of the cranberries and the fruitiness of a fine, tawny port.
Creamy Champagne Mustard
Mrs. McGarrigle’s Creamy Champagne is a smooth, creamy mustard with a pleasant slow-building heat.
Dry but flavourful, this vibrant variety is perfect for flavouring sauces and stews, or adding some boldness to different vinaigrettes; you’ll be amazed at how many recipes this integrates perfectly with.
Honey Tarragon Mustard
Our Honey Tarragon is a well-balanced crowd-pleaser with both its sweet and savoury notes.
It’s mild and refreshingly pleasant, making for a delicious glaze for chicken or ham. For mustard lovers looking for something with less of a bite, this is for you!
Hot Whiskey Mustard
Our Hot Whiskey is a 2001 Napa Valley Worldwide Mustard Competition Award Winner.
We couldn’t be prouder, and our customers can’t seem to get enough of it. This flavour walks the line between hot and sweet, and is made with fresh honey and aged whiskey. Mustard enthusiasts will want to add this to their ‘must-try’ list.
Lemon Dill Mustard
Our Lemon Dill is bright and light with no additives or preservatives.
This one is perfect with fish, white meat or in a traditional mustard vinaigrette. A subtle blend of fresh lemon zest, dill and wine vinegar means this mustard is crisp, tangy and delicious.
Our Oktoberfest variety is one of the mildest and smoothest mustards we make, so if you’re looking to dip your toe in the wonderful world of mustards this might be a good starting point.
Both creamy and light, it’s made with cider vinegar and is reminiscent of a traditional honey dijon – but with a satisfying twist. Try it as a classic complement to your grilled sausage.
Red Wine & Garlic Mustard
Our Red Wine & Garlic is a Napa Valley Mustard Festival Bronze Medal Winner!
Created with sharing in mind, this strong flavour is complex-tasting and loaded with fresh garlic and excellent wine. Perhaps for a more advance palette, this variety commands your attention.
Wasabi Lime Mustard
Our Wasabi Lime is for the adventurous mustard lover looking for something extra!
Those who love this mustard love it a lot. Clean and crisp, you’ll find that the wasabi isn’t at all overpowering (but still present) making it perfectly suited for seared or grilled fish, with smoked salmon or even in sushi!
Wine Peppercorn Mustard
Our Wine Peppercorn is delicious, but not for the faint of heart. It’s a strong addition to our mustard family, holding its own with a complex peppery heat that builds on itself.
Made with white wine, green peppercorns and a selection of fresh herbs, you’ll love it with grilled meats or in a mustard cream sauce served with Veal Scaloppini!
